    Description

    We are pleased to offer this rare WWII U.S. Navy military field medic's first aid and surgical kit, manufactured by the J. Sklar Co. of Long Island City, N.Y. It has a chrome case inside the canvas pouch with two scalpels, each marked, “Sklar-Chrome” on one side and “M.D. USN” on the other. There is also some remaining Surgeons Silk No. 2. on a cardboard spool. Please refer to the photos for the rest of the medic's tools. We don't think anything is missing, and they look great. This kit was carried by a medic who served in the Aleutian Islands in 1942-43 when U.S. Troops fought to remove Japanese garrisons from the U.S. Islands of Attu and Kiska. There is a small amount of corrosion on the scalpels and some minor age and use soiling on the case. All in all, though, this is an amazing piece of history. Please enjoy the photos.
