TURQUOISE PROVENANCE:
The turquoise this is made with came from the LARRY COOLEY' 1950's-'60's mined turquoise collection..Larry was known in the industry as the ‘go-to' turquoise guy’ who was known for having THE biggest,the highest quality-the most incredible collection of premium turquoise out of anyone,so that when designers like Federico would come along to buy,he could use these gems for his own jewelry designs.
Federico & Larry were extremely close & were such good friends,so much so that before Larry passed,he requested that his huge & HIGHLY collectible collection of vintage mined turquoise be passed on to Federico because Larry knew that Federico was the best one who would put these stones to the best of their use. Federico of course, put these stones into some of his most incredibly designed pieces you'll ever see (This necklace is just one example!) & once they're used up,they're gone..(See my Federico necklace,earrings,bracelet listings)

THE NECKLACE:
Going above & beyond to create the most fabulous turquoise necklace that you can lay your eyes on, one may say that 'pushing the boundaries' were exceeded with this necklace! It's pieces like this that are the perfect example as to what makes Federico stand above the rest & why his jewelry is so much sought after by the elite,as well as many Hollywood celebrities that walk the red carpet.
Made in a serious cluster style,this is made with a choice "Sampler" medley of all natural turquoise that's mostly from our top Nevada mines & has numerous carats of free form cuts that happen to work perfect together in the design, based on where & how they are laid..There is a ton of contrast in it that has colors that go from bright blues, to teals,to lighter greens.
Using the HUGE tear drop cut in the center portion as the point where all the stones branch out from,this is actually made up of 3 sections. (The centerpiece and the 2 neckline pieces) The highlight is the center piece that is 6-3/8" wide & 4" tall! All these stones were laid & then soldered on sheet sterling & then the metal was sawed out,so there is
NO
movement with this section.(See photos especially 6 & 12) Connected to the center & then leading to the closure are 3 panels (per side) that have 4 stones per panel that go up the neckline & sit so tightly together that it makes it look like they are a solid cluster of one. (See backside-Photo 12) There is a generous amount of both stone & sterling (3/4 pound)
