    Notable Features:
This necklace was handmade in the Art Deco style. Composed of 10k yellow gold, the necklace features a sweetheart-style pendant. The use of such a unique, eye-catching design in this piece is an excellent example of the styles of jewelry popular during the Art Deco era, which saw wealthy socialites and aristocrats donning bold, eye-catching jewelry to wear to Gatsby-style parties and formal events. Jewelry worn during this time period was created to make a statement and draw attention to the wearer, and this piece would have been no exception. Created in the sweetheart style, this necklace was popular during the Deco period, as soldiers purchased jewelry for their loved ones.
The pendant features a sweetheart motif with floral cutouts. Inside the heart is two beautiful flowers that have been hand cut into a faceted style to allow the gold to light up this necklace with its beautiful sparkle. The flowers also have a unique cut giving them a different texture to be the necklace's focal point. The pendant has a slider bale style which allows it to be worn on different styles of necklaces.
The pendant is strung on a 10k yellow gold cable link chain, completed with a spring ring clasp. When worn, the pendant rests below the collarbone on most people. A classic modern example of Gatsby-style jewelry from the Art Deco era, this necklace would make a valuable addition to any antique jewelry collection. Don't miss your chance to preserve this piece of cultural history.
    Damage:
    Age appropriate wear.

    The History
The Art Deco era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. Jewelry from this period was most often crafted between 1920 and 1940. Art Deco jewelry sometimes featured white gold or platinum, geometric designs, European cut diamonds, filigree, and calibre cut stones that are specifically cut to fit the design of the piece. During the Art Deco period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.
Sweetheart jewelry was an intensely romantic and patriotic fashion that began with World War I and remained through the end of World War II. Soldiers would gift these pieces of jewelry to their wives and sweethearts who remained at home while they were fighting overseas. Many materials and metals were rationed during the great wars, so these pieces were made of alternative materials, such as wood or plastic. Silver was not a rationed material, and was used to create higher quality pieces. This type of jewelry was a reminder and a promise to fighting soldiers all over the world.
